Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
-John 12:3

In the middle of a dinner, a sinful prostitute woman came to Jesus with an alabaster jar of costly perfume and she poured it on his head as he was reclining at the table.  The immediate reaction of Jesus’ friends and disciples, a group of people who had followed Jesus for a long time and thought they knew Jesus so well, was that they were offended and indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor.” However, Jesus defended the woman and said, “She has done a beautiful thing to me. When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” The new standard of worship in the New Testament was established by a sinful, prostitute woman – who poured her love on Jesus with all she had!

This fascinating expression has become a key value in our worship here at Community Church. Our heart and passion is to pour out all we have to honor and love Jesus – to see Him lifted up at the centre of our worship.  And all are welcome to worship Him.

The purpose of the Community Church Hong Kong Worship Team is to facilitate corporate worship. We do this most often through music and songs, but also through other mediums, e.g., drama, painting, movie clips, etc. The Worship Team aims to lead each member of the congregation into a time of corporate worship, to re-introduce God and to prepare our hearts for the message to come, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

If you discern that you are called to this ministry, please speak to our Church Office. We always covet your prayers. Pray for unity that in whatever we do, it would be “as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord.”
