Millan Choi

My name is Millan Choi. I have been going to church since I was three years old. My early childhood was shaped by the adventure and sacrifice of church planting, moving with my family as we helped establish new congregations. That upbringing taught me that the church is not a building or an institution, but a living, messy, beautiful body of people on mission together.

Before coming to Community Church Hong Kong, I was at Watermark Community Church. There, I was brought on to help build up the production team, and one of our key tasks was training people to become future church planters. Alongside me, Sylvie served faithfully across the administrative and Sunday service aspects of the church while also building up the care ministries. Together, we learned that healthy churches require both excellence on a Sunday morning and quiet compassion throughout the week.

I have lived in Hong Kong since 1995, and for the past 19 years I have been attending and volunteering in churches here. Today, I am at Community. My relationship with God continues to grow and deepen. I believe my lifelong experience in church planting and team development is not just my past—it is something I can offer. I understand the joys and strains of building spiritual community, the patience required for transition, and the courage needed to stay faithful.

I look to the Beatitudes as my guide. Jesus calls the poor in spirit blessed, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. That reminds me to lead without arrogance. He calls the meek blessed, for they will inherit the earth—a word for how I would handle conflict and decision-making. He calls the peacemakers blessed, which I take as a mandate to pursue unity without sacrificing truth. And he calls those who are persecuted for righteousness blessed, teaching me that faithful service is not about comfort but about character. My hope is to serve Community with the same humility, mercy, and purity of heart that Jesus lays out in Matthew 5. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.

Solomon Ka

Raised in the faith by his mother, Solomon’s journey has taken him from the classrooms of Hong Kong and the UK back to his roots in HK, where he chose to settle after university. In 2011, while searching for a spiritual home to raise a family, Solomon and his wife, Karen, found their community at Community Church. Today, they are the delighted parents of three wonderful children who are flourishing in the Shine & Spectrum ministries.

While he grew up in the church, Solomon’s faith truly leaped forward when he stepped into active service since joining Community. From teaching Sunday school and leading Life Groups to serving as a prayer minister, council member, and advisor, he has discovered immense joy in building God’s kingdom. He holds a particularly deep passion for youth ministry, stewardship, and prayer.

Professionally, Solomon works as a doctor in a private hospital and teaches as an honorary associate professor at the University of Hong Kong—a career that continuously refines his virtues of empathy, humility, and interpersonal communication.

Off-work, you can find Solomon connecting with others over a tennis or pickleball game, catching some waves at the beach, or sharing laughs over gourmet food and a few good drinks. Guided by his favorite scripture, Proverbs 3:5-6, Solomon strives to lean not on his own understanding, but to trust and submit to the Lord to make his paths straight.

Sheila Chuang

Sheila Chuang has attended Community Church since 2002. She accepted Christ and was baptized in 2004, and Community Church has been her home church since then. She served on Council from 2012 to 2018 and again from 2024 to 2026. She currently serves as Chair of Council and is also part of PAF, the Shine Core Team, and the Stewardship Committee. Sheila was born and raised in Hong Kong and has also lived in the United States, Canada, and Singapore. She has two adult children and is retired after a 34-year career in finance, marketing, and project management with a multinational energy corporation. She enjoys travelling, practicing Pilates and Tai Chi, and likes browsing YouTube and watching Netflix.

Philip Chang

I joined Community Church in 2005. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve in various capacities over the years, including as a Sunday School teacher and Outreach Co-chair. Happily married to Susanna, I enjoyed a career in urban design before retiring during Covid. Currently, I serve as a Council member and as the champion for the YWCA Care & Attention Home. It is a privilege to serve on Council, and I am honored to be considered for re-election. This has been a challenging yet rewarding season. While I don’t have it all figured out, I have learned to listen more, speak less, and trust God’s timing. My hope is that we continue to grow as a community where God’s love unites us across all our differences, while keeping our focus firmly fixed on the biblical teaching of Christ.
