Community Church Policy Regarding the Coronavirus

“ Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

                                                                                                         Philippians 4:6-7

The following is our policy regarding the implications of the Coronavirus on church activities.  While we do not want to ‘partner with fear’, we do want to exercise appropriate caution and do our part in helping to contain the virus in Hong Kong.  The situation is obviously dynamic, and so we will be reviewing these policies as more information emerges.

Let’s continue to pray steadfastly for our city, and through the power of the Holy Spirit be a ‘non-anxious’ presence in our city, offering the peace of Jesus Christ, which has the power to ‘guard our hearts and our minds.’

Sunday Services: This Sunday we will be offering in-person and online Worship Services at 9:30 and 11:30. Feel free to share our Youtube link to invite your friends and family to join us online.

For those who will be joining us in person, please note the following guidelines:
-We will be removing 50% of our seats from the sanctuary. We have created an overflow room in the classroom in order to accommodate as many people as possible. Once our sanctuary and overflow seats are filled up, we will unfortunately need to turn people away
-We will perform a temperature check on each person
-We are asking everyone to wear a face mask while at church and to use hand sanitizer when you arrive
-We will not be serving any food or drink in the church, except for communion (which will be in the self-contained cups)
-We will not be offering Sunday School for children (Shine) or Youth at this time
-Please rest at home and join us online, if you are feeling unwell or have been with someone who is unwell or is currently in quarantine

Shine Kids and Spectrum Youth ministries: We will keep in sync with the government’s school closures. We will suspend Spectrum Youth on Friday nights and our Sunday Shine Kids programming UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Lifegroups: If your group would like to meet on the church premises, you are welcome to do so as long as the number of people at any one meeting is no more than 8. If you group meets in a private home, this restriction does not officially apply and we leave it to the discretion of the group leaders to decide how best to meet, taking into account what might be in the best interest of the group members.

Church events: Large church events will be cancelled or postponed, e.g., we have cancelled our annual CNY event for the elderly, our CNY visit to St. Barnabas, and the Super Bowl fellowship event.  Smaller events will be determined on an individual basis. The RE service will be suspended UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Prayer: Please continue to pray daily for our city, for our church, for all those in the mainland and around the world who have been affected by this virus.  Pray especially for our leaders to make wise decisions and for the healthcare professionals who are on the frontline.  Pray for our church that we might lead with wisdom and calm while modeling appropriate caution, and that we might be an expression of Jesus’ love and peace during this challenging time in our city.  Finally, let us know if there are ways we can be praying for you and/or your family.  It’s important that we come alongside one other in prayer.

If you have any questions regarding these policies, please contact the church office ( or one of the pastors.  We will continue to keep a close eye on the developments of the virus, and will communicate updates as appropriate.
