Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. Matthew 22:37-38
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-21
And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:39-40
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[b] but do not have love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Love Doing Good
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9
We love because God first loved us. We seek intimacy and relationship with God, made possible by Jesus. We are a Christ-centered community, which means that we are centered around and driven by the life, message and the death and resurrection of Jesus.
The gospel (Good News) is the proclamation that Jesus Christ, crucified and risen, is the Lord and King of the world. He has broken the dominion of sin and evil over humanity and the world, and is bringing redemption and transformation to individuals and every sphere, system and structure of the world, making all things new. As His church, we are called to proclaim this good news of Jesus Christ in every way—being, speaking and doing.
Discipleship happens best in community. Jesus cares about our lives (relationships, work, emotions, and service) and we believe being in community with others is an essential part of the discipleship process.
We value the image of God in all people and believe that everyone matters. We embrace our diversity as we walk in unity and seek to be a community that is loving, welcoming and inclusive to everyone.
We recognize that we all have faults and imperfections. Therefore, we value and seek to create a culture of openness, vulnerability and warmth that is marked with grace and forgiveness.
Love in Action
We show God’s love to the world through action born of compassion. We seek to embody the love of Christ by being his hands and feet in our local community and in our own faith community. We are each called to make a unique and humble contribution to the world.
